A welcome Hurricane blows through
Rubin Carter is all about standing up for what is right.
I won't be able to go to Centennial Auditorium tonight to hear his speech but I applaud the John Howard Society for bringing him. Parts of his current message were reported on television. What struck me as to the point was a statement that we had had enough inquiries and now it is time to start implementing the recommendations of those inquiries.
Welcome, Rubin Carter, and thank you for lending your credibility to a message we stand fully behind. Until the Crown and the cops are forced to change, they will keep right on acting to advance their own careers instead of fulfilling the mandate which is to uphold the law.
Innocent people must not be prosecuted. And cops must not break the law to get what has passed through too many courts as evidence.
Anyone who hears Carter's speech, please contribute to the discussion.
