Moving injusticebusters towards better interactivity
It is almost 18 months since I created this blog as "the interactive arm" of injusticebusters which was launched in May, 1998. I am not terribly html literate and I still use an old wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) adobe pagemaker to create the pages (more than 1000 of them, now, some of them very very long) on the website. Several years ago, adobe abandoned this tool and it has become increasingly difficult for me to use -- partly because it creates code which is not as streamlined as the html which has been developed in the last few years.
Right now we are dealing with a couple hot, local stories, both of them murder cases.
To those of you who came here expecting to find the Michael Cardamone discussion, welcome and I direct you to the index of previous posts at the side. This discussion can continue for as long as it takes and I thank all of you for showing how an interactive blog can work.

Something to think about: As the StarPhoenix reported, a piece of evidence in the possession of the Saskatoon Police has not been tested. Mark Brayford claims he gave this evidence to them in June. The cost of testing would be under one thousand dollars. Are we going to have to go out and panhandle to get the money for the necessary forensic examination? Did someone say "Oh, don't bother testing it?"

There are a lot more flashes on the horizon. For now, we'll stay with these two.
#Flash: Robert Borden, who was acting as counsel for Wilf Hathway since February withdrew his services last week. Hathway had engaged Borden as part of a team which included Richard Klassen, Angela Geworsky and me. This week, Borden also withdrew his services for another client, Wayne Tkatchuk, who we had recommended to him and who had retained him for $5,000. The latter withdrawal was made by way of a telephone call from his partner, Ed Holgate, to Richard Klassen. No reason was given.
# Second Flash: We have evidence that Sgt. Philip Farion of the Saskatoon Police Service tampered with evidence in the original investigation and gave perjured testimony on the stand during Hathway's preliminary inquiry.
People should be aware that the last Saskatoon police officer we identified as a criminal by name was Superintendent Brian Dueck, who eventually left the force in public disgrace, but with most of his pension intact.
If the RCMP E Division and the Attorneys General of the province and the country are still scouring the website, I would like to put their minds at rest that there is nothing on this site which would serve to identify any of their undercover operatives involved in Big Boss stings.
Our position on these stings has not changed: if anything it has deepened as we have learned about several other people who have been wrongfully convicted based on evidence obtained through these operations. We have not stopped opposing them and will continue to investigate.
More shocking than the methods of E Division, though, is the basis upon which these mounties accept the assignments: to get confessions from sly criminals who have eluded capture by the local police.
The public is led to believe that Scenario stings are a last resort, when all other methods have failed and the local police have exhausted all avenues.
It would seem that these stings are most often resorted to when tunnel vision has led the local police to focus on the wrong suspect. The reason that they cannot get enough evidence to go to trial is that they have been pursuing the wrong bad guy. You can't get evidence that just is not there.
Sgt Philip Farion was an original identification officer at the Denver Crawford murder scene.
We will have more to report on this so stay tuned.
Injusticebusters are still busy, but we are not always able to keep the website as up to date as we have in the past. We do not always respond to e-mail as it sometimes gets mistaken for SPAM. For this I apologize. To those who have just discovered our site and have received your first sting of injustice, and have probably spent most of your money on defence lawyers, I can only say "Welcome to the Canadian Justice system." There is no easy way to get out of such a situation. It takes a lot of work to get your side of the case before a court, particularly when there are a lot of unethical prosecutors out there.
We have said since we first launched this website in 1998: Disclosure is important. You are entitled to all of it. The rules of court are daunting but often they are reasonable. You are entitled to a competent defence and if you have a lawyer who will not provide you with one. you must fire that lawyer! As in any other social situation, you wll make better progress if you are polite and observe proper decorum in the court room. But you must not let the system roll over you. The system does not care about innocent people. If it did, it would have implemented the recommendations of the several Inquiries which it has conducted during the last ten years.
The identical mistakes which were made in wrongly convicting David Milgaard are happening today, in Saskatoon, in Saskatchewan, in Canada. All the inquiries do is provide jobs for lawyers and rental for fancy hotels. The poor journalists who sit through the boring proceedings report to us so that we (society) have the illusion that something is really being done.
Happy New Year.
